Bikini Bottom Express in Da Nang: Reviewed by a Local Guide

I visited Bikini Bottom Express in Da Nang three times this week because I wanted to be sure — the food is excellent. The franchise opened in 2018, and it’s taken me six years to try it out. Better late than never. At the time of writing, they have two locations in Da Nang and two in Hoi An.

The Da Nang locations are in the city and by My Khe Beach. For Hoi An, they have a location on An Bang Beach, and the other (newest) location is along the riverside close to Old Town.

They refer to themselves as an American/Canadian diner specializing in smash burgers. You can view their menu on Facebook here.

Getting There

There are currently four Bikini Bottom Express locations in Da Nang and Hoi An. If you’re in Da Nang, you can visit the one on An Thuong 2 (beach side) or Tran Phu Street (in the city). If you’re staying in Hoi An, visit their location at An Bang Beach or along the Thu Bon River in Old Town.

Eating at Bikini Bottom Express

The Bikini Bottom Express in my pictures is located on Tran Phu Street in Da Nang, near the Da Nang Cathedral (the pink church). The pink church actually owns the building this Bikini Bottom is in.

This location has three floors of seating: the first floor, the third floor, and the rooftop. The second floor is the kitchen, and they use a dumbwaiter. There are bathrooms on the first and third floors. There is also a small balcony area on the third floor.

The interior is very comfortable and clean. They have a combination of fans and air conditioning.

All of the staff I’ve interacted with have been very friendly. I had a nice conversation with one of them today, and she was really excited to be practicing her English.

On my first visit, I had the Crispy Pickles (69.000 VND) and the Texmex Bam Bowlritto (110.000 VND). Both were great.

On my second visit, I wanted to try something new, though I almost got the Texmex bowl again. They have a selection of cold-pressed juices (without any added sugar). This juice is the Guava, Pineapple, and Lemongrass (40.000 VND). The food is from their Signature selection, The Sizzler (150.000 VND).

I was surprised when The Sizzler came out. This dish has a lot going on. There’s sliced beef, a sausage patty, spinach, hash potatoes, two fried eggs, and two slices of sourdough bread. It’s super filling and very good.

On my third visit, I decided to go back to the basics. After all, Bikini Bottom Express is known for its hamburgers — I’ve heard good things. The cold-pressed juice I had this time was the Pineapple, Orange, and Honey (40.000 VND).

They have a selection of smash burgers, and I had their namesake burger, the Bikini Bottom Burger (89.000 VND). It’s a double cheeseburger with sauteed onions, pickles, and Dijonnaise (Dijon mustard mixed with mayonnaise).

I added the fries combo for another 29.000 VND. These are pretty good prices for Western food in a nice sit-down restaurant with air conditioning.

I’ve visited Bikini Bottom Express three times so far, and I’ll continue eating here. I’ll be trying out their other locations in the coming weeks. I frequently ride my scooter down to Hoi An, so I’ll visit their An Bang Beach location sometime soon.
