My Khe Beach has grown a lot since I moved to Da Nang in 2018. Back then, there was a beachside path, but the beach itself was largely empty except for a couple of areas with sun loungers for rent. Maintenance and landscaping on and around the beach were mostly neglected.
Now, there is an awesome beachside path, several areas with loungers for rent, and many beachside bars and places to eat. There are also a ton of great hotel choices. Here’s a video I filmed on the path at My Khe Beach.
If you’re planning a trip to Da Nang, see my guides on when to visit, how to get around, and things to do — in addition to visiting My Khe Beach. Here’s a sample one-day Da Nang itinerary to get you started. If you’re visiting Hoi An, here’s my guide on An Bang Beach and where to stay in Hoi An.
Anthony’s note: The beaches in Da Nang are pretty quiet during the morning and afternoon. Vietnamese locals visit the beaches in the late afternoon and early evening. Usually, from around 4 PM onwards, when many locals get off work and kids finish school, the beaches and paths become pretty crowded into the night.
Where to Stay on My Khe Beach
If you want to be directly across from the beach, look at the TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach (Agoda / Booking) or the HAIAN Beach Hotel (Agoda / Booking). Both hotels are in the My An area, a very popular place to stay. Here’s my guide on where to stay in Da Nang.

Vo Nguyen Giap Street runs parallel to My Khe Beach along the coast. There are a lot of hotels along this street (like the TMS and HAIAN above) and a lot of activity inland between the beach and the Han River. Da Nang’s beachside gradually becomes less touristy as you head north toward Son Tra Mountain (where the Lady Buddha statue is).
If you want a great hotel, across from the beach in Da Nang, in a slightly less touristy area, look at the Le Sands Oceanfront (Agoda / Booking).

Personally, I would stay in this area. I like having access to more local experiences. But I also have my own scooter, so it makes getting around easier. You’ll want to use the Grab app to get around Da Nang (download it here).
If you’re looking for a beach resort, the Pullman Danang (Agoda / Booking) is just outside the My An area. For more hotel choices, here’s my Da Nang hotel article.
Visiting My Khe Beach in Da Nang

My Khe Beach is free to visit. There are several roped-off swimming areas up the coast, with lifeguards on duty. The lifeguards usually stop around 8 PM.
The paved beachside walking path has turned out very nice. It extends several kilometers along the beach and is great for morning or evening walks or runs. I’m on this path a few times per week.
I filmed this video during one of my runs on the path along My Khe Beach.
If you are a runner, it does get pretty congested in the evenings, and you’ll be dodging people up and down the path. I use the Strava app, and it has a lot of nice running routes around Da Nang.

If you want to rent a sun lounger, they cost around 40.000 VND each for the whole day. There are many groups of sun loungers up the coast, most with nearby small beach bars or vendors that sell smoothies, fresh juice, cold drinks, and beer.

Things to do on My Khe Beach: besides swimming and lounging, a local business offers water sports. They operate out of a small tent, with a few locations staggered up the coast. The launch points and tents are easy to find — look for the banana boats or parasailers taking off.
Currently, they offer parasailing for one or two people, banana boating, or jet skiing. I’ve added a photo with the prices below.

When I stopped by one tent for information recently, there was a continuous stream of people going parasailing. Each trip seemed to take about 10 to 12 minutes.
Here’s a video I took of some parasailers taking off.
For food, there are a lot of food truck-sized places to eat with seating, as well as some bigger beachside restaurants/bars, all along the walking path. For more food choices, this article details some places I like to eat.
These first few are further south, closer to the My An area.

Further north, across from the hotel cluster I mentioned above, are several big beachside restaurants. This is where I’d go for a heartier, filling meal, right on the beach. East West Brewing, Mad Platter, and Esco Beach are solid choices. There are others here.
