7 Best Beaches in Da Nang: A Local’s Guide

Dear reader: I visit every place I write about and use only my own original images and videos in my articles. This article contains affiliate links, which I may be compensated for at no extra cost to you. This allows me to continue creating original Vietnam content.

As a daily motorbike rider, I have explored Da Nang extensively and frequently travel to Hoi An, making me well-versed in the best beaches in both cities.

For information on the weather in central Vietnam, see my guide on the best time to visit Da Nang. The information in this article applies to Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An, a typical trio on Vietnam itineraries.

As with all of the imagery on Ahoy, Vietnam!, I personally took all of the photos and videos in this article. You can view more of my Da Nang videos here.

If you’re looking for beachside accommodations, read my guides on hotels and beach resorts in Da Nang. I recommend the TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach and the Pullman Danang Beach Resort.

Map of My Favorite Da Nang Beaches

Here’s a map of the beaches referenced in this article. You can view the full map here. I recommend downloading and using the Grab App to get around.

How to use this map: Ahoy! Click the arrow in the top left-hand corner to view the layers. The purple umbrella icons are my favorite beaches in Da Nang. My personal favorite beach for a quieter scene is Non Nuoc Beach.

1. My Khe Beach (Bãi biển Mỹ Khê)

Location: Google Maps

My Khe Beach is the most popular in Da Nang, mainly because of its convenience and proximity to many excellent hotels. It’s also one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. Tripadvisor’s 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards ranked My Khe Beach as the 6th best beach in Asia.

The beach starts in the My An area (An Thuongs) and stretches north along the coast into Son Tra.

I filmed this video at the beach access spot across the street from the Monarque Hotel.

Many confuse My Khe Beach with My An Beach or Bac My An Beach. The fact is that My Khe Beach is the longer overall area, while My An Beach is a small section inside it. Locally, you can use either name interchangeably.

The walking path along the beach is a popular spot for exercising. I run a 5K along the beachside path a few times per week. There are pull-up bars and other exercise equipment scattered about.

Here’s a video I filmed while running along My Khe Beach.

Running along My Khe Beach in Da Nang, Vietnam

Vo Nguyen Giap Street runs the entire length of My Khe Beach and is lined with hotels, restaurants, juice bars, and convenience stores.

During the day, the beach is relatively quiet except for tourists and travelers. The beach is free, but there is a small fee for sun chairs or loungers. Parking your scooter or motorbike along the beach in most areas is free.

From around 5 PM onwards, the beach gets packed with locals. The Vietnamese are not sun worshippers, so the whole family comes out to swim and socialize at sunset.

At night, many people walk, jog, or dance in one of several fitness classes right on the path (on the beach itself, too). The walking path and overall area go from quiet to really busy right as the sun goes down.

2. Non Nuoc Beach (Bãi Tắm Non Nước)

Non Nuoc Beach is south of My Khe Beach and the My An area. The location I provided above is a very specific spot on the beach, just across from the Marble Mountains. I recommend using the Grab app and hiring taxis to get around Da Nang.

Here’s a video I filmed while standing on Non Nuoc Beach.

Non Nuoc Beach in Da Nang, Vietnam

This beach access spot is about 10 minutes (5.8 km) south of My Khe Beach, along Vo Nguyen Giap Street, where it turns into Truong Sa Street. You would take this road on your way down to Hoi An.

This is a very quiet beach. I recently visited at 2 PM on a Sunday, and there were only two other beachgoers.

This beach spot is between the brand-new Koi Resort and the Melia Danang Beach Resort. The Danang Marriott Resort is just up the road, and the budget Sandy Beach Non Nuoc Resort is down the road. For more info on resorts, read my guide on the best beach resorts in Da Nang.

This is my go-to spot for a less-visited beach. You can swim here, and there are lifeguards on duty. Motorbike parking and using the beach are free. However, this beach is a bit less convenient than My Khe Beach, so you should bring some water and other light snacks just in case.

3. East Sea Park (Công viên Biển Đông)

Location: Google Maps

East Sea Park is a small beach area north of My Khe Beach and My An. This spot is part of the beachside walking path, so you can get here by walking north along the beach from the My An area. I run by here during my 5K runs.

I filmed this video at East Sea Park. You can see how quiet it is during the day. The Nalod Da Nang is a nice hotel across from the beach.

At East Sea Park, the beachside walking path becomes a wider promenade, hosting concerts, live music, shows, and other events. I recently saw an organized yoga class of at least 200 people with a big stage set up.

There is a motorbike parking lot with security guards. Parking a motorbike costs 4,000 VND, and parking a bicycle costs 2,000 VND. This beach has many palm trees providing shade and is usually quieter than its southern counterparts (My Khe Beach/My An Beach).

There are many beachside bars and other nearby conveniences. East West Brewing is a great craft beer spot nearby.

4. Man Thai Beach (Bãi biển Mân Thái)

Location: Google Maps

At Man Thai Beach in Son Tra, Da Nang

Man Thai Beach is north of East Sea Park and further along the Son Tra coast. It is a quieter option than the more popular My Khe/My An and East Sea Park beaches.

As I’ve mentioned in my other articles covering Da Nang, the further north you go along the coast, the less touristy it gets.

Here’s a video I filmed at Man Thai Beach in Son Tra. Like East Sea Park, you can see how quiet it gets farther north. The Le Sands Oceanfront Danang Hotel is across from Man Thai Beach.

At Man Thai Beach in Son Tra, Da Nang

If you ride your motorbike to Son Tra Peninsula or Lady Buddha along Hoang Sa Road, you’ll ride right along Man Thai Beach. I’ve been riding through this part of Da Nang daily for the last few weeks, and sometimes it can get a little smelly.

Local fisherman bring in their daily catch in the area. If you hang around, you can buy fresh fish and seafood directly. If you ride past, you may notice locals gathering on the beach, surrounding the fishermen with their daily catch.

The fish smell is stronger the further north you go, heading towards Lady Buddha. But south of the smelliness is a very quiet and open beach, with great views of Son Tra Peninsula and Lady Buddha.

You can walk here from the My An area, but it will take 30 to 40 minutes. It’s an easy walk, though, with a sidewalk the entire way north along the beach.

5. Tan Tra Beach (Biển Tân Trà)

Location: Google Maps

Tan Tra Beach is 7.5 km, or about 12 minutes, south of Da Nang’s My Khe Beach area. It’s between the Sheraton Grand Danang Resort and the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Non Nuoc Beach Villas. The beach is also near the Legend Da Nang Golf Resort.

Here’s a video from Tan Tra Beach in Da Nang.

At Ortus Bistro & Beers on Tan Tra Beach in Da Nang, Vietnam

I came to check this beach out again the other day. There’s a long road heading from Truong Sa Road, and you can pull right up to the beach. It was very quiet. I was the only foreigner here; maybe ten locals were hanging out under the palm trees.

6. Son Thuy Beach (Bãi tắm Sơn Thủy)

Son Thuy Beach is 4 km, or about seven minutes, south of My Khe Beach. This beach has a parking cost of 4.000 VND for motorbikes and 2.000 VND for bicycles.

I filmed this video while standing at Son Thuy Beach.

You can swim at this beach, and there are lifeguards on duty. This beach is next to the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa (hotel website).

This beach will be the closest if you are heading south from the My An area and My Khe Beach. Then comes Non Nuoc Beach (my personal favorite choice) and Tan Tra Beach.

7. Lien Chieu Beach (Bãi tắm Liên Chiểu)

Location: Google Maps

Lien Chieu Beach is located in the northwestern part of Da Nang, along the Da Nang Bay, and offers a more local experience. This beach and area can also be called Xuan Thieu Beach. It’s a bit out of the way, so I recommend hiring a Grab taxi to get here. You can download the Grab App here.

Here’s a video I filmed at Da Nang Bay.

I am standing on the walking path alongside the beach in Da Nang Bay

It’s a great spot for those who want to explore outside the usual tourist areas. I don’t swim when I come here; it’s a place to check out with different views and a different atmosphere. Nearby hotels include the Mikazuki Japanese Resort & Spa (hotel website).

You’ll need to take a taxi, GrabBike, or ride your own scooter to get here. If you want to ride your scooter to the Hai Van Pass, you’ll go right by this beach on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.

If you are heading to Nam O Beach, you’ll also go right by Lien Chieu Beach. Nam O Beach isn’t really a “beach,” and it isn’t easy to access. But it has great scenery too.

You can come here to get some sun and swim in certain areas. But this beach is far less convenient for nearby drinks and snacks compared to My Khe Beach and the My An area. You’ll likely be the only tourist if you come here to check it out.

Best Beaches in Da Nang (FAQs)

What are the best beaches in Da Nang for families?

The best beach in Da Nang for families is My Khe Beach. I say this because of its location: My Khe Beach is mostly in the My An area and is very convenient. Many hotels are either directly across the street or within a few minutes’ walk. For family hotels and beach access, check out the Sala Danang Beach Hotel or the TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach.

What are the options for luxury stays near Da Nang beaches?

There are many great luxury resorts in Da Nang with direct beach access. If you want a beach resort within walking distance of My Khe Beach, check out the Pullman Danang Beach Resort. Just further south is the highly-rated TIA Wellness Resort. The Son Tra Mountain to the north is home to the InterContinental Danang, one of the nicest resorts in Vietnam.

What activities can I do at Da Nang beaches?

Besides swimming and soaking up the sun, beach-goers can fly kites, play beach volleyball, go parasailing, or enjoy some snacks and cold brewskis at one of the many eateries and restaurants on Vo Nguyen Giap Street along the beach. Most activities and conveniences are found at My Khe Beach in the My An area.

Are there any hidden or less crowded beaches in Da Nang?

If you’re looking for a less crowded beach in Da Nang, head south of My Khe Beach and the My An area. My personal choice is Non Nuoc Beach (Bãi Tắm Non Nước). You can swim here, and there are lifeguards on duty. Motorbike parking and using the beach are free. However, this beach is a bit less convenient than My Khe Beach, so you should bring some water and other light snacks just in case. Alternatively, head north from My Khe Beach/My An into Son Tra. East Sea Park and north of here have quiet, less crowded beaches.
