As I mentioned in my article covering the best gyms in Ho Chi Minh City, I was a personal trainer at Retro Fitness and LA Fitness in the United States, and I’ve been working out for nearly 20 years.
When I first moved to Da Nang in 2018, I spent a few days working out at The Hinh Fitness Center, a small, family-owned gym in My An. A one-time day pass cost 30.000 VND, or about $1.20 USD. That gym is still there today.
Since then, I’ve exercised at many gyms across Da Nang using day passes and have maintained longer memberships at others. The best gyms in Da Nang are spread across the three best areas: Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son, and Son Tra.

My Favorite Gyms in Da Nang
Tâm Body Fitness Center (Son Tra)

Location: Google Maps • Day Pass: 40.000 VND
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Four floors, elevator | Closed on Sundays |
A lot of machines | Not walking distance from My An |
Free water fountain | No air conditioning |
Bathrooms on every floor | |
Cheap day pass/membership | |
Pretty clean |
This gym is a hidden gem in Son Tra, where I trained for the last few months.
The day passes cost 40.000 VND, and a monthly membership costs 400.000 VND. These are great prices for what’s offered here.
There are four floors of weights, machines, cardio equipment, and open space to do functional training, core training, or calisthenics.
The first floor has a free water fountain. They also sell cold drinks.

There is an elevator and a bathroom on each floor.
There is no air conditioning, but every floor has numerous fans you can turn on and adjust. It does get hot, but it is tolerable and worth it.
As more expats and travelers discover this gym, it will become busier over the next few months—just my prediction.
The New Gym (Hai Chau)

Location: Google Maps • Website • Day Pass: No Day Passes!
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good, transparent membership prices | No day passes |
Classes included in all memberships | Can’t walk here from beachside |
Free filtered water fountain | |
Clean gym, bathrooms, and showers | |
Air conditioning | |
Has personal trainers | |
Open 24 hours |
The New Gym in Hai Chau is one of my favorite gyms in Da Nang. When I lived in Ho Chi Minh City, I worked out at three different New Gym branches, all of which are open 24 hours a day.
Compared to gyms in the USA, where they mostly maintain a similar standard and your chosen gym is just a matter of personal preference and convenience, there are many variations on what’s inside gyms in Vietnam.
For example, it would be unusual for a gym in the USA not to have a water fountain or air conditioning. It would be unusual not to have sufficient equipment for major muscle groups.
But there are gyms here without water fountains. Sometimes, cold bottled water is sold in these gyms, but not always. Most gyms here do not have air conditioning, and equipment choice and quality really run the gamut.
All things considered, the New Gym franchise ticks the most boxes for me.
There is a water fountain. There is air conditioning and fans.
This gym has a parking garage with a security guard on the ground floor. You sign in on the first floor, which has the locker rooms and showers.

They have the most cardio machines of any gyms I’ve been to in Vietnam. There are about 20 treadmills, 10 sitting bikes, 10 upright bikes, plus ellipticals, stairmasters, and rowing machines.
The second floor has a water fountain, many cardio machines, and some weight machines.

The third floor has free weights, benches, and more weight machines.

The fourth floor has a functional training area with ab mats, ab machines, and the fitness class studio.
All memberships get access to the group classes. There is yoga, dance fit, sexy dance, aerobics, Zumba, and more. There is even a “Bum N Tum” class.
I joined here for three months for a total cost of 1.019.000 VND (~40 USD).

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good price for a day pass | No air conditioning |
Free towel | No water fountain |
Friendly staff | |
Quiet | |
Free motorbike parking in front |
TV Fitness Club is a good and smaller gym in a quiet area of Son Tra.
The gym has three floors. The first floor has a lot of equipment squeezed into a smaller but not too crowded space. A decent number of upper body machines, free weights, and treadmills are on the first floor.

The second floor has the bathrooms, squat racks, leg presses, and other lower body machines.

The third floor is for guests working with personal trainers.

There isn’t air conditioning here, but the fans and breeze on the first floor provided a tolerable environment for working out.
When I came to exercise here at 2 PM, there was only one other person.
Overall, TV Fitness Club has a great price for a day pass, enough equipment, and is quiet.
MINH TRI Fitness Center (Cam Le)

Location: Google Maps • Day Pass: 100.000 VND
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
New and clean | No air conditioning |
Good monthly price | No water fountain |
Good amount of machines | |
Quiet during the day |
I was a member of this gym in Cam Le for one month. I joined during the hot and dry season, which was too hot for me.
There isn’t air conditioning, but there are a lot of fans. It might be a much better choice during the cool and rainy season.
They do not have a water fountain but sell cold drinks for 10.000 VND.
The gym is newer, very clean, and has a lot of machines. There is free and easy motorbike parking right in front.

The second floor is reserved for personal training clients only.
It was very quiet during the morning and early afternoons but started to get busy in the evening. This is a nice, quiet gym, away from the touristy area of My An.
A monthly membership at the time of writing is 400.000 VND. That’s a good deal for a newer gym like this.
My Favorite Gyms in Da Nang (FAQs)
Are there any 24-hour fitness centers in Da Nang?
The New Gym in Hai Chau is a 24-hour fitness center. The front desk is not staffed overnight. Members can access the gym anytime with their unique QR code and fingerprint. To pass through the turnstile gate, scan the QR code at the fingerprint reader, then place your finger on the scanner, unlocking the gate. In my experience, the New Gym has remained open even during holidays when other gyms have closed.
Are there any gyms in Da Nang with swimming pools?
Some gyms in Da Nang have pools, but check out the facilities thoroughly before committing. Proper and consistent pool maintenance isn’t the norm here. Gyms with pools in Da Nang are Elite Fitness Vinh Trung, California Fitness & Yoga, My An Sport Center, and HD Fitness Center (Hoa Khanh).
How do I find a gym with a day pass in Da Nang?
Most gyms in Da Nang offer day passes. Some even offer several-day passes or weekly options that are perfect for travelers. The only gym in Da Nang that does not offer day passes is The New Gym (Hai Chau).
What are the options for yoga and pilates studios in Da Nang?
There are several gyms with yoga or pilates studios and classes. Check out Alpha Fitness Center & Yoga (Son Tra), No Limits Fitness & Yoga (Son Tra), and The New Gym (Hai Chau).
Do gyms in Da Nang offer personal training services?
Most of the modern gyms and fitness centers offer personal training services. If you are interested, please shop around for the best deals; prices will vary considerably. If you want a personal trainer, contact a few different gyms on my list. I find The New Gym franchise to be the most transparent with pricing, so I would start there.
This is a really good article, very detailed and informative, on a side note it would be nice to know which gyms have sauna / steam room and the quality of them as well 💪
Thanks, Glenn. The quality of the saunas/steam rooms is going to be the biggest thing. I’ve been to a lot of gyms that “have them,” but they’re turned off and collecting dust. Others that are off and barely used. A “safer” bet for something like this would be bigger clubs like California or Elite Fitness. This HD Fitness has a sauna I believe: https://maps.app.goo.gl/np3C8uUH382hr4Hf6
I agree. This is a really good article, very detailed and informative. Thanks
Anyone knows any gyms with air conditioning? Cheers
A lot of gyms have AC but don’t turn them on. The New Gym in Hai Chau has AC. This is a long-term gym though, no day passes. You can join for 1 month though. Good prices. The HD Fitness gyms have AC. There are a few of them. Search Google Maps for “HD Fitness” — there are some near the beach and others over the river in Hai Chau.
Great article. I’m going da nang in a few weeks. Have you seen any gyms with a pendulum squat? I can’t seem to see any from the gym photos on google…
Have a look at this gym and the photos…they have day passes…I *think* there’s one here, don’t quote me: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XZmdqo4g53btFXps5
Are there hotels that offer monthly gym and pool membership? I need to access a pool on a daily basis that is well maintained. Thanks
Hotel gyms are usually poorly maintained and small. Some have nice pools, but I don’t know about pool memberships at hotels. This gym (My An Sport Center) has a big outdoor pool. It was nice and clean when it first opened back in 2018 or 2019. I would go look at this to see how it is nowadays. It’s in a very convenient area if you want to swim every day. Here’s the location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DqemB6iRmykwrfsC6
Great information. I will check out the gums listed and maybe look for a place with a great pool. It’s hard to find both
Yeah, it’s going to be hard to find a good gym that has a good pool. You might have to mix/match. The My An Sport Center had a nice, big outdoor pool when it opened a few years ago. Have a look there and see how it looks nowadays.
Thanks for the write up! Here for a few weeks and this helps! Any fav supplements store for protein powder?
You’re welcome. Check out WheyStore (cash only, last I visited): https://maps.app.goo.gl/KAT8ygU87PTXPpE69 or FNI (cash or card): https://maps.app.goo.gl/Jv9zWTcD78qSaq2H7
Do any gyms have steam, sauna, cold plunge and magnesium baths?
Not all of those in one gym, unfortunately. You’d have to mix/match and visit dedicated places like this: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9zYG5iFuguuUq4j6A (You could join a gym nearby, like Hoc Vien Fitness 199 or No Limits Fitness, then visit a place like this).
Great article. As an athlete soon returning to Da Nang for a few months, I’ve been looking for a training space better equipped than the gym I used previously (unsurprisingly not on this list). The extensive info you provide here will be invaluable. Thanks Anthony!
Thanks, Bear. Also check out Mega Fitness in Hai Chau and Hoc Vien Fitness 199 near the beach. Two other good but different choices.
