Fivitel Danang Hotel Review: Excellent Views and Value

The Fivitel Danang Hotel offers excellent value and some of the best views in Da Nang.

I stayed at this hotel for one month while waiting for a new apartment to become available. I like hotel rooms that have places to sit other than the bed, and this hotel has small couches. The hotel is a little “tired,” but the views and value for money are hard to beat.

I stayed in two different rooms. One had river views, and the other had ocean/mountain/river views. The rooms are fully equipped, with comfortable beds, couches, private balconies, and good desks.

There are rooms where the shower is in the bathtub, and others with a normal walk-in shower (no bathtub). I would ask for this room because the bathtub/shower combination was very slippery.

About the Fivitel Danang Hotel

Fivitel Danang Hotel Location

Da Nang is split into two distinct sides: the city and the beach. The Han River, running north-south, splits the two sides.

There are hotels along both sides of the river with great views. The Fivitel Danang Hotel is one of them. This hotel is on the beach side of Da Nang in an area called Son Tra. But I should mention that it isn’t close to the beach (it’s on the beach side but near the river).

A walk to My Khe Beach will take about 25 to 30 minutes (here are the walking directions). However, a taxi ride to the beach will cost about 30.000 to 40.000 VND (between $1 and $2 USD).

You’ll want to download and make use of the Grab app to get around Da Nang. You can download the Grab app here. This app is similar to Uber, and it allows you to book moto-taxis, private cars, regular taxis, and bigger SUVs.

The Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is only 10 minutes from the hotel. To get to the hotel from the airport, you’ll want to use the Grab app to book a taxi or prearrange an airport transfer through Klook.

Check out my guides on visiting Lady Buddha, the Marble Mountains, and My Son Sanctuary, all of which can be accessed from the hotel by hiring a GrabTaxi. You can also take day trips from Da Nang to Hoi An.

Staying at the Fivitel Danang Hotel

As I mentioned in the beginning, I stayed at the Fivitel Danang Hotel for one month (30 days). I split the time between two different rooms because the bathtub-shower combo in the first room was really slippery.

You have to step up and into the bathtub to shower, and there isn’t anything safe to hold onto. Maybe they’ll change this in the future, but that’s the situation at the time of writing.

They also have rooms with normal showers (without bathtubs). I switched to one of these rooms, and it was a much better experience. I would double-check and ask for one of these rooms during your booking or check-in.

The room pictured below was my first room. This is a Superior King Room with Balcony on the 19th floor. This one had the slippery bathtub/shower.

This next room below was my second room, a Deluxe King with Balcony on the 17th floor. This one had a normal walk-in shower.

This room was also on the corner, so it had views of the river, the ocean, Son Tra Mountain, and Lady Buddha.

The breakfast seating area is pretty big. There is plenty of space to fit traveling families, and it’s big enough to find a quiet spot if you’re traveling solo or as a couple.

The Fivitel Danang Hotel is a budget hotel. I found the breakfast selection to be fair for the cost. But on a personal level, the breakfast selection is a bit limited. I made daily use of the omelet station.

They put out a small variety of hot dishes. There is plenty of juice and hot coffee. There is a toaster with different breads. The daily fruit selection varies a bit and is somewhat limited.

The bottom line is the Fivitel Danang Hotel offers great value for cost, has awesome views, a rooftop infinity pool, and a so-so breakfast.

The hotel is a bit worn, but the rooms are clean and spacious. I like that the rooms have a couch, even if it’s small, as it’s better than always sitting on the bed. The desks are also big enough to do work.

All of the staff were very friendly during my stay.

This hotel is not in a happening or central area where everything is accessible on foot. You’ll need to be comfortable walking a bit or relying on GrabCars (taxis) to get around Da Nang. This isn’t a problem, though, and is very easy to do. You should be using the Grab app to get around Da Nang anyway. If you want to visit Hoi An, too, learn how to get there from Da Nang.

If you like walking and exploring, this is a great budget hotel. The river is nearby, as is the Nguyen Van Troi Walking Bridge.

I had a motorbike when I stayed here, and I was allowed to park it in the basement garage for free. I would stay here again.
