I’ve written a few articles on Ho Chi Minh City’s best hotels, using my years of experience living here as a barometer.
I know where these hotels are because I’ve lived in Ho Chi Minh City for a while. I know their exact areas, how convenient the location is, what attractions or things to do are nearby, and if there’s easy food and drinks locally. And I know if they’re noisy or not.
Every traveler has different financial limits, hotel tastes, and values, so I’ve kept that in mind as I put together my list. Every hotel that I recommend below is in a great location in District 1.
The Huong Sen Hotel (Agoda / Booking) is a budget hotel in an excellent location on Dong Khoi Street.
The Reverie Saigon (Agoda / Booking) is the fanciest hotel in HCMC and also in a great location on Nguyen Hue Street. For something less sparkly, look at the Caravelle Saigon (Agoda / Booking).
Here’s my Ho Chi Minh City travel guide and sample one-day and three-day itineraries. Join my free Ho Chi Minh City travel planning group, where I will personally answer any questions you have on HCMC hotels.
If you’re in trip planning mode, you’ll want to check visa requirements, the best time to visit HCMC, and how to get a SIM card. I recommend downloading and using the Grab app to get around Ho Chi Minh City. This article covers common Vietnam travel FAQs.
Finally, you’ll need to know how to get from HCMC airport to District 1.
Map of the Best Hotels in District 1
Here’s a map of some of my favorite hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. I’ve also included some of the city’s best attractions so you can see how close they are to the hotels. You can view the full map here.
How to use this map: Ahoy! Click the arrow in the top left-hand corner to view the layers. The light purple layers are a few notable areas of District 1. The purple bed icons are my favorite hotels in District 1. I arranged the hotel choices by budget, mid-range, and luxury. The yellow stars are some (just some) of the nearby attractions.
Best 5-Star Hotels in District 1
1. La Siesta Premium Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Brand new (opened in 2023) | Some rooms have no windows |
Excellent location | Low-floor rooms don’t have as great a view |
Boutique and intimate | |
Awesome rooftop views |
The La Siesta Premium Saigon is a brand-new luxury boutique hotel built in 2023. The hotel is in the Ben Thanh area of District 1, close to Ben Thanh Market.
The hotel is conveniently located on Ly Tu Trong Street, four minutes from Ben Thanh Market, and less than 10 minutes from the Independence Palace (Reunification Palace).
I filmed this outside the La Siesta Premium on Ly Tu Trong Street. It’s a great location in D1.
The Twilight Sky Bar Sai Gon on the 12th Floor provides some of the city’s best views. The rooftop pool also has great views but is a little smaller than other hotel pools on my list.
Some rooms have better views than others – request a high floor when booking.
Rooms at the La Siesta Premium Saigon can be had for $150 per night.
2. The Reverie Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | You may be tempted to stay in the room all day |
Outdoor swimming pool | The extravagance may be too much for some |
Top-tier amenities | |
Private butlers available |
The Reverie Saigon is arguably the most over-the-top luxury hotel on my list. In fact, it may be a little too over the top for some. The hotel employs professional butlers trained by the British Butler School.
The hotel is located inside the Times Square Saigon building, occupying the 27th through 39th floors. Every room will have a great view, though some have both a city view and a Saigon River view. The Reverie is situated in a prime location, right in the middle of Nguyen Hue Street in District 1.
Everything about The Reverie is lavish, opulent, and, if I may say so, sir, sparkly.
Rooms at The Reverie Saigon can be had for ~$220+ per night, depending on when you are traveling and room selection. I recently saw the Deluxe King and the Deluxe Twin for this price. You may be able to find an even better deal than that.
Alfred: Your beluga sturgeon caviar, sir.
3. The Park Hyatt Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | None |
World-recognized brand | |
Hyatt Concierge – available 24 hours for any business need | |
Nice outdoor swimming pool |
The Park Hyatt Saigon, the Caravelle Saigon Hotel, and the Hotel Continental Saigon are arguably the best-located hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. The Ho Chi Minh City Opera House is situated opposite all three.
The Park Hyatt is one of the city’s more expensive hotels, if not the most expensive. However, like all Park Hyatt’s, everything here is top-notch. There are 245 hotel rooms and 23 suites.
I filmed this video outside the Park Hyatt. It’s a great location in D1.
If you want top-tier luxury without the over-the-top opulence, chandeliers, and shininess of The Reverie, the Park Hyatt Saigon is the best choice.
The 1 King Bed City View and the 1 King Bed Garden View can be had for ~$300+ per night. Depending on when you are traveling, I have seen rooms as low as $260 per night.
4. Caravelle Saigon Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location (right in front of the Ho Chi Minh Opera House) | Older building (built in 1959, refurbished in 1998) |
Outdoor swimming pool (open 24 hours for in-house guests) | |
Best views overlooking the Opera House | |
Vegas Club e-gaming casino |
As mentioned in the Park Hyatt section above, the Caravelle Saigon Hotel‘s location is arguably the best in Ho Chi Minh City. The Opera House is right outside, steps from the Caravelle.
Of the three hotels in front of the Opera House, the Caravelle is the tallest and provides the best views. I filmed this video outside the Caravelle, the Opera House, and the Hotel Continental.
The Caravelle has a good-sized outdoor pool on the 7th Floor that is open 24 hours for in-house guests. They also offer a fitness center that is open 24 hours a day for in-house guests.
The Vegas Club e-gaming casino is also located inside the hotel.
Rooms at the Caravelle Saigon can be had for around $200 per night.
5. JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon (InterContinental Saigon)

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | None |
20-metre outdoor pool | |
Four hotel restaurants | |
Worldwide luxury brand |
The InterContinental Saigon was reflagged to JW Marriott Hotel & Suites in 2024. The hotel is situated away from the hotel cluster of Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi streets but is in its own great area.
It is directly across from Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and less than 5 minutes walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon and the Saigon Central Post Office. This is a great location.
The hotel has 305 rooms and panoramic city views. It is attached to a small mall called the mPlaza, which has conveniences like ATMs, restaurants, and Starbucks.
The hotel itself has four restaurants, including Yu Chu, a restaurant specializing in Cantonese and Peking cuisine; the Library, with international cuisine and cocktails; Basilico, a casual Italian trattoria restaurant; and Market 39, a seafood and international buffet.
Rooms at the JW Marriott (InterContinental Saigon) can be had for ~$220 per night, but I have seen flash deals for $170 per night.
6. The Myst Dong Khoi

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | Not as opulent as other choices |
New-ish (opened in 2016) | |
Great price for 5-stars | |
Unique design and decor | |
24-meter rooftop pool |
The Myst Dong Khoi is a 5-star hotel that’s probably the most affordable of the luxury hotels. It’s also in the same great area, right behind The Reverie.
The hotel is located on a smaller street, Ho Huan Nghiep, right off the popular Dong Khoi Street. (See map above.)
The Myst Dong Khoi is a 3-minute walk from the Saigon River. Going the opposite way, it’s a five-minute walk from the Opera House and an eight-minute walk to the Ho Chi Minh Statue.
Rooms at The Myst Dong Khoi can cost around $130 per night.
7. Fusion Original Saigon Centre

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | None |
Inside a shopping mall | |
Amazing outdoor pool views | |
Newly built (2022) |
The Fusion Original Saigon Centre is a brand-new luxury hotel built in 2022. Like every other hotel on my list, it’s in a great location.
The hotel is located inside the Saigon Centre and Takashimaya Shopping Mall. This immediately offers additional and easy dining and shopping options, steps from the hotel.
The view from the outdoor swimming pool is one of the best pool views in the city.
Rooms at the Fusion Original Saigon Centre usually go for at least $120 per night. But I have seen their Original King Room and Original Twin Room for as low as $100 per night.
8. New World Saigon Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Interesting and excellent location | None |
Big outdoor pool | |
Tennis court | |
24/7 fitness center |
The New World Saigon is a luxury 5-star hotel in a very interesting location in District 1. It’s on a triangular island in the middle of converging roads and is directly between the Ben Thanh area (Ben Thanh Market) and Bui Vien walking street.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel near Bui Vien, this is it. As mentioned, it’s also near Ben Thanh Market – both are about a five-minute walk from the hotel.
This is a pretty big hotel, having 533 guestrooms and suites.
The New World Saigon has one of the biggest outdoor pools in Ho Chi Minh City and a 24/7 fitness center, sauna, and tennis court. The hotel can arrange companion tennis players if you need someone to play with. It also has professional coaches and any equipment you’ll need.
Rooms here can go for $180 per night.
9. Lotte Hotel Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Located on the Saigon River | No walk-out balconies |
Huge outdoor swimming pool | |
24/7 fitness center | |
Good restaurant choices in-house | |
Great price for five stars |
There are about six hotels located along the Saigon River in District 1, and the Lotte Hotel Saigon is one of the nicer ones. This is a very popular hotel.
The Lotte features 283 rooms, and each one has a separate working and sitting area. The pool is the widest outdoor swimming pool in Ho Chi Minh City. The hotel’s fitness center is open 24/7.
I filmed this outside the Lotte Hotel in D1. The hotel is across the street from the Saigon River.
They also offer 24/7 shuttle and limousine service. A complimentary shuttle bus is available on request. Their business center offers internet access, PCs, fax, high-speed color printers, binding service, and scanners.
There are four hotel restaurants, including an international buffet at The Canvas, Japanese at Yoshino, Italian at Ottimo House Trattoria, and Chinese at the Crystal Jade Palace. There is also Delica Hans, a bakery, the Pool Bar, and the Legend Lounge, a lobby bar and lounge.
Rooms at the Lotte Hotel Saigon can go for as little as $120 per night.
10. Hotel Majestic Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent river location | Small outdoor pool |
The rooftop restaurants have among the best views in Saigon | Not as posh as other five-star hotels |
Great price for five stars | Older building |
Private room balconies |
The Hotel Majestic Saigon is a 5-star hotel located on the Saigon River and is probably the best-located river hotel. Because of its location directly across from the river, it is a very popular place to stay.
The Majestic is nearly 100 years old, having been originally built in 1925. Over the years, it has been upgraded and refurbished. The hotel currently has 174 rooms and suites featuring full marble bathrooms and private room balconies. This hotel would probably be best described as “French colonial-style luxury.”
I filmed this outside the Majestic Saigon. It’s across the street from the Saigon River.
The hotel’s two rooftop bars and restaurants (M Bar and Breeze Sky Bar) have some of the best river views in Ho Chi Minh City.
Rooms at the Hotel Majestic Saigon cost around $120 per night, depending on when you’re traveling.
Best Mid-Range Hotels in District 1
11. Hotel Continental Saigon

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | Not as upscale as nearby options |
Great price for the location | No pool |
Heritage hotel with French colonial history (the hotel was built in 1880) | |
Good breakfast spread |
The Hotel Continental Saigon is a 4-star hotel right next door to the Park Hyatt Saigon. It benefits from the same great location in front of the Opera House but without the 5-star pricing.
This hotel was originally built in 1880 and named after the Hotel Continental in Paris. It has been refurbished and upgraded over the years but still maintains a lot of its original charm.
The hotel does not have a swimming pool. This would be a great choice for staying in because of its location.
Here’s the same video I shared in my Caravelle Hotel Saigon section. The Caravelle, the Hotel Continental, and the Park Hyatt Saigon are all right here.
Rooms at the Hotel Continental Saigon can be had for $70 per night.
12. Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | Small rooftop swimming pool |
Awesome rooftop views | |
Great breakfast | |
Clean and spacious rooms |
The Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint Hotel is a four-star hotel in an excellent location, right around the corner from the Ho Chi Minh Statue.
This hotel is on Pasteur Street, which is a long street that runs from the Saigon River in D1 all the way up to D3. There are many great places to eat on this road. Directly across from this hotel, down an overlooked alley, is Pasteur Street Brewing Co. This is a popular craft beer chain with a few locations in Ho Chi Minh City. This Pasteur Street location was their original taproom.
I filmed this video from the roof of the Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint.
Right outside the hotel to the left is Eddie’s Diner. Normally, I wouldn’t recommend eating at an American diner while in Vietnam, but this place is outstanding. Eddie’s has three locations in Ho Chi Minh City; everything on their menu is excellent, and the portions are huge. I highly recommend it.
Rooms at the Liberty Central Saigon Citypoint can be had for $90 per night, but I have seen flash deals for as low as $60 per night.
13. Signature by M Village Lê Thánh Tôn

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Newly reopened (2023) | None |
Convenient location | |
Outdoor (but covered) swimming pool | |
Free self-serve laundry | |
In-room iron and ironing board | |
Spacious rooms | |
Great breakfast buffet |
The Signature by M Village is in an excellent location on Le Thanh Ton Street, directly across from Japan Town in District 1. The hotel is newly renovated, having reopened in the summer of 2023.
If you want easy access to a cluster of Japanese restaurants, including the city’s best ramen, this is a great place to stay.
However, the hotel is also in a great area where you can see some of Ho Chi Minh City’s best attractions. It is a 10-minute walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon and the Saigon Central Post Office, as well as the Opera House and Ho Chi Minh Statue.
Signature by M Village offers spacious rooms with in-room iron and ironing board, as well as free self-serve laundry with two washers and two dryers.
Rooms at the Signature by M Village can be had for $90 per night, and I have seen them as low as $60 per night.
14. Silverland Mây Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Good location | Room views can vary |
Newly built (2023) | |
Cool rooftop pool area |
The Silverland May Hotel is a newly built (2023) four-star hotel in District 1, located on one of the quieter streets in the area.
The Silverland brand offers a few mid-range hotels in District 1. Some of their others are the Silverland Yen Hotel ($$), the Silverland Sakyo Hotel ($$), and the Silverland Min ($).
The Silverland May is about a five-minute walk from the Opera House and Ho Chi Minh Statue. Japan Town and the Japanese restaurants, ramen, and bars are also right around the corner (about three minutes).
The hotel offers a 24/7 fitness center with city views. The rooftop pool is designed to be a “tranquil oasis” that provides tree cover and shade.
15. Au Lac Charner Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent location | The Indochinese-style decor may not be for everyone |
Decent breakfast buffet | Not the best room views |
Daily complimentary tea time | Small pool |
The Au Lac Charner Hotel is a four-star boutique hotel in a great location off the opposite side of Nguyen Hue Street as The Reverie Saigon and the Oscar Saigon Hotel. (See map above.)
The hotel is located steps away from the Bitexco Financial Building, which houses the Saigon Skydeck, a 49th-floor observation area. I visited the Saigon Skydeck recently. It was a cool experience and is something you should definitely do when staying in District 1.
The Au Lac Charner has a swimming pool on the 10th Floor and a fitness center on the 11th. For an additional cost, they offer hotel shuttle pickup.
Rooms at the Au Lac Charner Hotel can be had for around $100 per night, give or take. I have seen flash deals for as low as $80 per night.
Best Budget Hotels in District 1
16. Huong Sen Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Top-tier location | You may get jealous of nearby luxury hotels |
Excellent price for the location | |
Surrounded by restaurants and bars | |
Steps from the Saigon River and the city’s attractions |
The Huong Sen Hotel sits in a prime location on Dong Khoi Street, just steps from the Saigon River in one direction and the Ho Chi Minh Statue and Opera House in the other.
Location, location, location. This hotel is in the same general area as The Myst Dong Khoi and is around the corner from The Reverie Saigon.
I filmed this video outside the Huong Sen Hotel. This is a great area on Dong Khoi Street, right near Nguyen Hue Walking Street.
There is a small fitness room and a small outdoor pool. They are not fancy. If all you care about is location, this hotel is in the heart of District 1. But it will be lacking in amenities.
Rooms at the Huong Sen Hotel can be had for $40 per night.
17. Oscar Saigon Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Top-tier location | Very noisy (ask for a higher floor to best avoid) |
Excellent price for the location | No pool |
Directly on Nguyen Hue Street |
The Oscar Saigon Hotel is located directly on Nguyen Hue Street, around the corner from the Huong Sen Hotel. It is two minutes up the street from The Reverie.
Its location is a blessing and a curse. Personally, I think this would be the perfect budget hotel if it were not for the noise. Nguyen Hue Street can get loud and busy at night, especially on the weekends, and this noise can make its way into the hotel.
But the physical location is excellent – perfect. The Ho Chi Minh Statue is less than three minutes away.
If you can get a higher floor, this is a good choice. If they only have low floors available and you’re a light sleeper or want something quiet, then I would avoid it.
Rooms at the Oscar Saigon Hotel can be had for $30 per night.
18. Calista Saigon Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Great location | No swimming pool |
Excellent price for the location | |
Good breakfast buffet |
The Calista Saigon Hotel is in the Ben Thanh area of District 1, just a short walk away from the La Siesta Premium Hotel above.
It benefits from being in the same great location: five minutes from Ben Thanh Market and eight minutes from the Independence Palace.
I filmed this video outside the Calista on Ly Tu Trong Street in District 1. This is a great area.
Also, one of my favorite gyms for travelers to Ho Chi Minh City, Mach’s Gym, is five minutes away. This gym offers an affordable day pass (80.000 VND) and a weekly pass (200.000 VND). It is small but air-conditioned and has everything needed for a workout while traveling.
Also, the Bui Vien area is less than a ten-minute walk away.
Rooms at the Calista Saigon Hotel can be had for $25 per night.
19. Meander Saigon (Hostel)

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Newly built (2020) | None |
Award-winning hostel (TripAdvisor and HostelWorld) | |
Nice coworking space | |
Clean | |
Great area of District 1 |
Meander Saigon is a very nice hostel in District 1. It offers single rooms and dormitory beds. There is also a coworking space.
Meander first started in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2013. There are currently two locations in Taipei. This Ho Chi Minh City branch opened in 2020 and is their first international location.
At Meander, guests can get work done at their coworking space, which has hot desks, dedicated desks, and a private office.
The single rooms at Meander Saigon can go for $50 per night. Single beds in the dormitory or the female-only dormitory can cost $18 per night.
20. Vien Dong Hotel

Address: Google Maps • Hotel Website
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent Bui Vien location | While some like the Bui Vien area, it can be a tourist trap |
Good park directly across the street | No pool |
Lots of food choices nearby | |
Great overall budget option |
The Vien Dong Hotel is the best budget hotel in Bui Vien. It sits directly on Pham Ngu Lao Street, right across from the September 23rd Park.
This is the best hotel if you want to stay in the Bui Vien area. It is situated in a prime spot, surrounded by countless eateries and bars.
I filmed this outside the Vien Dong Hotel in the Bui Vien area. This immediate area, including Bui Vien Walking Street around the corner, is popular with partiers and backpackers.
Vien Dong offers a decent breakfast. The hotel does not have a pool. Some rooms have a great park view.
Rooms at the Vien Dong Hotel can be had for $40 per night.
