Buongiorno! Somewhere in the land of amore, where the sun-drenched vineyards meet the cobblestone streets, doughy delight was just flung into the air, composing a symphony of flour and tomato sauce. Meanwhile, I’m 6,000 miles away in Ho Chi Minh City, looking for delicious pizza to enjoy a culinary operetta of my own.
I have lived in Ho Chi Minh City for a few years and tried many pizza places around the city. My last name is Giarratano, so procuring some good ‘za is in my blood. I don’t do frozen crust. I don’t do it.
If you’re looking for top-notch homemade pizza in Ho Chi Minh City, the places below will have you shouting, “Mamma mia!”

1. 365° Napoli Pizza (Thao Dien)

I reviewed 365° Napoli Pizza on Google Maps
365 Napoli Pizza is an Italian restaurant in Thao Dien (District 2) on Ngo Quang Huy Street.
What really sets this place apart is their Tuesday promotion, when pizza is discounted by 50%. This promotion is every Tuesday from 5 PM – 10 PM. And as you might expect, it gets pretty busy on Tuesday evenings. You can, however, order for pick up and still get the discount. It does not apply to delivery.

Their pizza is wood-fired and handmade with fresh dough. They are also known for their homemade fresh mozzarella cheese.

2. Jimmy’s New York Pizza (District 7)

I reviewed Jimmy’s New York Pizza on Google Maps
Jimmy’s New York Pizza has two locations in Ho Chi Minh City: one in the Phu My Hung area of District 7 and another in District 2. Without traffic, both their D7 and D2 locations are about a 20-minute car or motorbike ride from Ben Thanh Market in District 1.
As their name suggests, they specialize in New York-style pizza. As you can see from my pictures, I had the 12-inch Buffalo Chicken. It was excellent. Much more filling than I anticipated. Easy to fold, and not oily or greasy and falling everywhere. It was just a very good and filling pizza.

I may be somewhat biased because I really like this area of D7. It happens to be one of my favorite areas in all of Ho Chi Minh City. The Phu My Hung area is a bit spread out, but many of its parts are much calmer, quieter, and more open.
This Jimmy’s location is right across the street from Nam Vien Park. It’s a more peaceful and breezy part of Ho Chi Minh City.
3. Pizza & Bia (District 3)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page • Website
I reviewed Pizza & Bia on Google Maps
Pizza & Bia is located in District 3 on Pham Ngoc Thach Street. It’s tucked down a small side street, so you might miss it at first (like I did). The pizza place is right next door to the Citadines Regency Saigon, one of my favorite hotels in District 3.
The side street is quiet, and there’s a parking stand with a security guard right out front of Pizza & Bia’s doors.

I had the large BBQ Chicken Pizza, which was 275.000 VND. They have about 16 different styles, either small or large, ranging from 155.000 VND for The Margherita (small) to 345.000 VND for The Parma Ham (large).
Like Jimmy’s above, this is more American-style pizza and is excellent. I would say that both are about as good as one another. The only difference would be their locations and that Pizza & Bia has a larger selection of beer, craft beer, and wine.

The decor and ambiance are different, too. Jimmy’s is more laid back, with the park across the street. It’s open and breezy. Their choice of decor suits this. Pizza & Bia, on the other hand, is more of a sit-down restaurant whose owners clearly put a lot of thought into interior design and is in a busy city area of District 3.

4. Pizza 4P’s Saigon Pearl (Binh Thanh)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page • Website
Pizza 4P’s is a pizza chain in Vietnam with several locations in Ho Chi Minh City. Normally, I wouldn’t recommend a big chain if you’re looking for the best artisanal pizza, but this is an exception.
All of Pizza 4P’s restaurants are among the top-rated in the city. (See for yourself: Google Maps) Every location has nearly five stars and thousands of reviews.
You’ll want to download and use the Grab app to get around HCMC. It will make checking out different pizza places much easier.

The pizza is, indeed, good. But besides pizza, they have appetizers, pasta, and salad. They also have a selection of what they call “Sustainable Ciders & Beers,” including a few 4P’s Original Beers.
The interior of all Pizza 4P’s that I’ve been in are on the nicer side. They also have no menus; you order from your cell phone at your table.

5. Red&Round (District 7)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page
I reviewed Red&Round on Google Maps
Red&Round is an Italian restaurant in the Phu My Hung area of District 7. The restaurant is on a relatively quiet street, and there is free and easy street parking for motorbikes right out front.
It isn’t the biggest place, but it was very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly when I visited, and my cooked-to-order Diavola pizza was brought to me within 10 to 15 minutes. The crust was fresh and crispy but pretty thin compared to Jimmy’s (also in D7).

I do know that some people prefer thin-crust pizza. I, however, am still on the fence about it. I like a good fold, and most thin-crust pizza I’ve had gets pretty floppy (this included). But the flavor and everything else about the pizza was great, so the crust issue might be a “me” problem.
They have a Set Lunch special, which I think makes this a good value and worth checking out. My pizza and drink came to 170.000 VND

6. Paper Plate Pizza (District 1)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page • Instagram
I reviewed Paper Plate Pizza on Google Maps
Paper Plate Pizza is in a small alley in District 1, about 10 minutes from the Bui Vien area.
There isn’t motorbike parking per se, but you can pull up alongside the shop and park your bike or have GrabBike drop you off there. The shop is clean and has air conditioning.

This is one of the only places I have found that does individual slices – and good-sized ones, too. Just like their pizza boxes say, their focus is New York-style pizza. They have several different types of slices ready to eat, like the pizza places I’m used to in the USA.

The slices are doughy and on the thicker side, definitely not what I would call “thin crust.”
Plain slices can be had for just 50.000 VND, while the pepperoni I had cost 60.000 VND per slice. There are about 18 different slices and pizzas you can order. They also have pasta, salads, wings, and other sides.

7. Oliver’s Pizza (Binh Thanh)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page
Oliver’s Pizza is located in Binh Thanh District, specifically in Ward 19. The entire Ward 19 area is very walkable.
Oliver’s is on a quiet side street, and there’s easy motorbike parking right out front. The shop is small, but it’s clean and air-conditioned.

Just like Paper Plate Pizza above, Oliver’s makes individual slices. These slices are closer to the Sicilian-style pizza in the USA. They are square and thicker.
Individual slices at Oliver’s are 70.000 VND each. They also have four different combo specials, offering slices with either salad or dessert and soft drinks or wine. The combo that I had below is two slices, a salad, and a soft drink for 170.000 VND.
Oliver’s also makes their pizza dough fresh every morning.

It’s a good place to check out if you’re in the Binh Thanh area or just want a couple of quick slices.

8. Brick & Barrel (District 1)

Address: Google Maps • Facebook Page
I accidentally stumbled upon Brick & Barrel while looking for a place to eat in District 1, and I’m happy that I did. The entrance can easily be overlooked. It’s a small doorway, and you’ll go up a few flights of stairs to reach the restaurant.

Brick & Barrel has an indoor and outdoor seating area. The indoor area is comfortable and well-decorated, and thought was clearly put into the vibe. The outdoor area is covered but open and airy. There is also a small stage for live music.

When I visited, it was quiet, and I had a chance to chat with the owner, James, for a while. He’s from Texas and clearly knows his food (and pizza). He told me they specially ferment the dough, and he traveled to Italy to source ingredients that they now import.

James also owns nearby Big Boss Bistro, which makes excellent sandwiches. I reviewed their Italian sub here.
For my pizza, James recommended the spicy salami, which has Ventricina piccante salami. He said he went to Italy to find it. The bottom line of Brick & Barrel: the pizza was excellent, and I loved the overall vibe of this place.
